The main content of the summary consists of reference information on the nomenclature, geography, degree of rarity and measures proposed to protect about 600 species of flora of the USSR from among rare, endangered or undergoing increased exploitation, mainly endemic species of higher plants for the territory of the USSR. The work is supplemented by regional lists of plants recommended for protection on a state scale. A number of maps of the ranges of rare plants of the flora of the USSR are given.
