Pavel Pavlovich Zavarzin (1868-1932) - career military man, colonel, leading employee of the Separate Gendarme Corps. Educated at the Odessa Real School, then - at the Infantry Cadet School, which he graduated in the first category. He began his service in 1888 in the 16th Rifle Battalion of His Majesty. Being in the personal protection of the emperor, he guarded the Hessian princess Alix (the future Empress Alexandra Feodorovna) in the days of her arrival in Livadia. Since May 1898 he was a member of the political investigation service. He worked in the Main Gendarme Departments of Bessarabia, Crimea, in the Chisinau Security Department; since June 1904 - assistant to the head of the Mogilev State University; since July 1905 - head of the security department in Rostov-on-Don; in 1906-1909 led the Warsaw security department.
