Based on the widest range of sources, the author shows the unusual historical fate of the Jewish people, primarily the Jewish population living in the territory of the former Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Despite all sorts of troubles that have befallen Jews for many centuries - persecution, expulsion, genocide - they invariably survived.
