The book of S. Averkov presented to readers raises the question of the advisability of returning Russia to its historical name "Ancient" instead of "Kievskaya," introduced by N. Karamzin and N. Pogodin at the beginning of the 19th century. All ancient Russian history began in Veliky Novgorod. In the book, an attempt is made to once again consider the well-known facts and show that some of these facts are exaggerated, and not complete, insignificant information was presented about others, which led to the emergence of "Kievan Rus."
