The book discusses the main design issues of normal electrical machines. It outlines the basics of electromagnetic, mechanical, ventilation and thermal calculations of DC and AC machines, as well as issues of their design. Peculiarities of design of turbogenerators and hydrogenerators are considered. Calculation formulas and auxiliary materials necessary for practical calculations, consisting of tables, curves and GOST, are given. The above methods are explained using examples of calculating a DC generator and motor, asynchronous motors with slip rings and short-circuited with various rotor winding designs, synchronous generator and motor. The book is mainly intended as a textbook for students of electrical engineering faculties of energy and other institutes.
