Semyon Yakovlevich Unkovsky (1788-1882) - a graduate of the Naval Cadet Corps, sent as a midshipman to serve in the English fleet, participated in a number of naval battles, was captured by the French, released after the Tilsit Peace. In the years 1813-1816. participated in a round-the-world voyage on the ship "Suvorov," upon retirement he settled in the village, where he wrote his notes. Most of them are a story about the expedition of M.P. Lazarev, completed on the instructions of the board of the Russian-American company. On the way to the shores of Alaska, the expedition discovered the Suvorov Islands, examined the Russian colonies and, having completed the voyage around South America, delivered the richest materials to Russia.
