Here is an album that includes 47 photographs depicting prisoners and buildings of Akatuy prison, one of the main places of detention of political prisoners in the Russian Empire at the end of the tsarist period. The album belonged to Isaiah Aronovich Shinkman, a doctor and member of the Party of Socialists-Revolutionaries, who was held in Akatuy prison from 1906 to 1911. Akatuy prison was located at the Akatuy silver mine in the Nerchinsk district of the Trans-Baikal region of Siberia.
