The monograph highlights an important aspect of the formation of a new international order after the end of the First World War. The parameters of this order largely depended on relations between Great Britain and France - the only great powers of the victorious coalition that participated in the war throughout its entire length. Anglo-French relations were complicated by a large number of contradictions, and the question of the post-war fate of the peoples and territories of the defeated Ottoman Empire caused no less sharp disagreements than the peace process in Europe. It was at this time that the political map of the Middle East, with the active participation of the great powers, acquired a shape close to modern ones.
