The book tells about a little-known and forgotten page in the history of France and French public opinion of the late XIX-early XX centuries. At that time, many famous cultural figures, scientists, politicians, university professors and generally the intellectual elite of France spoke out in defense of the Armenians, who in 1894-1896 were subjected to pogroms in the Ottoman Empire. The Armenophilic movement that unfolded in the country was directed against the policy of its own government, which showed complete indifference to the events in Asia Minor.
