Following her will come the Red Army, dressed in all red... which will destroy, destroy, kill and rape everything," - this is how the poor, illiterate Romanian peasants reasoned in May 1944, a month and a half after the liberation of the eastern regions of the country by Soviet troops. The peasants did not wait for these terrible troops, and the real Red Army continued to move west, freeing Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Norway, Austria and Germany from Nazism.
