Vaclav Leopoldovich Seroshevsky spent 12 years in Yakutia as a political exile. Fate threw a young Warsaw citizen who had barely reached adulthood into the most remote and remote corners of Siberia. However, nothing could extinguish in him the curiosity of the future famous scientist and writer. Living side by side with the Yakuts, spoke with them in their language, engaged in craft and agriculture, V. L. Seroshevsky was able to collect huge factual material, which formed the basis of his book. The work of V. L. Seroshevsky "Yakuts," first published in St. Petersburg in 1896, still remains the most complete and valuable monograph on the Yakuts.
