The Red Army entered the Great Patriotic War with practically no self-propelled artillery. Hitler's Wehrmacht, on the contrary, had at its disposal several types of self-propelled artillery installations, which the Germans used very successfully. This experience did not go unnoticed by Soviet designers and the military. In 1942-1944, three self-propelled guns based on the T-34 medium tank - SU-122, SU-85 and SU-100 - were adopted in the Soviet Union one after another. In the same formation with the tanks, self-propelled guns passed a glorious combat path, which ended in Berlin. Self-propelled gun SU-100 is rightfully considered one of the most powerful anti-tank self-propelled guns of World War II.
