Alexander Werth's book "Russia in the War of 1941-1945" is a peculiar and undoubtedly interesting story about the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union, the author of which witnessed many events. It was truly a great war, a heroic feat of a multi-million people who fought for the Soviet, socialist Fatherland, against the most vile and dangerous generation of imperialism - German fascism. The peoples of the Soviet Union, led by the Leninist Communist Party, fought not only for themselves, for their present and future, but also for the fate of people in many countries of Europe and Asia, over which the darkness of the fascist "new order" thickened. That is why the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union was part - and at the same time the main, decisive part - of the Second World War of 1939-1945, unleashed by the German fascists in Europe and their imperialist Japanese allies in Asia.
