Biography of the brilliant Russian artist Andrei Rublev is an almost white spot on the map of the history of Russian culture of the XIV-XV centuries. And never a single researcher will draw these white places, since the sources did not preserve the biographies of the creator of the famous "Trinity," and time did not spare many magnificent iconostases, majestic wall paintings. The writer, who took up the creation of Rublev's artistic biography, had the right to speculate on the facts that the sources are silent about. V. Pribytkov's book is not a novel or even a historical story. Art history chapters dedicated to Rublev's work are replaced by genre paintings that reproduce morals, everyday life, events of the formidable and glorious years of the late XIV and first decades of the XV century. The writer is trying to look into the thoughts, into the complex inner world of the artist and make his image close and understandable to us.
