The work of the remarkable scientist Nikolai Nikolayevich Shchekatikhin (1896-1940) introduces the decoration of the publications of the first printer Francis Skorina (about 1490 - about 1551), analyzes them, evaluates book publishing as an important phenomenon of Belarusian art. The researcher proposed his classification of engravings, which illustrated the editions of Francis Skorina.
