The work examines one of the key issues of the pre-revolutionary history of Bashkiria - the problems associated with the reform of 1861. The situation of peasants and the mining population on the eve of the reform of 1861 is characterized, the reform is analyzed among landowners, specific and state peasants, Bashkirs and apprentices, the struggle of workers against the difficult conditions of liberation from serfdom is shown.
