The manual provides reference data and outlines the basic principles that should be followed when choosing metal alloys for various purposes and technologies for their heat treatment. Examples of tasks for selection of metal alloys and strengthening technologies for typical machine building parts are considered. A computer program for automated selection of materials and technologies in mechanical engineering and a methodology for practical use of this program are presented.
