The book of academician B. M. Kedrov is devoted to the question of the dialectical method of ascent from abstract to concrete in its application to the presentation of dialectics itself. It is a direct continuation and, in a sense, a synthesis of many other works of the author, concerning the development by F. Engels and V. I. Lenin of their dialectic ideas. The results of the study are of great importance for clarifying ways and means of building a systematic course on materialistic dialectics as a science.
