The first truly global conflict of the New Age - the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) - occupies a modest place in Russian historiography. Russia's participation was marked by brilliant triumphs over the most formidable Prussian army in Europe, but dramatic policy turns led to the fact that these victories were left without visible results, and the war was unclaimed in national historical memory. Meanwhile, the colossal military efforts of Russia affected the social, cultural, economic processes, which largely influenced the development of the country in the following decades. The international team of authors sets itself the task of not only arousing the reader's interest in the era and discovering new sources, but also showing the Seven Years War as part of the European history of Russia. The book creates a voluminous image of the military era and tells about its various sides - from the army, diplomacy, domestic politics and economics to information coverage of the war, the self-awareness of its participants and contemporaries.
