This work is devoted to one of the least studied phenomena in Russian verse - Caesur. Despite the fact that all traditional versification guides speak of the need for caesura in some types of verse (in the antique dactylic hexameter or in the six-footed iambic), they are most often silent about what caesura is or are limited to reasoning that caesura is "pause" or "respiratory arrest." As a rule, such a definition cannot be applied in practice, and, therefore, the history of caesura in the Russian verse is full of ambiguities.
