Count Nikolai Pavlovich Ignatiev (1832-1908) occupies a special place in terms of personal and business qualities in the front row of Russian diplomats of the 19th century. His name is associated with the conclusion of the most important international treaties - Beijing (1860) and San Stefansky (1878), the accession of the Amur Region and Primorye to Russia, the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke, the acquisition of independence by Serbia, Montenegro and Romania.
