The publication discusses the theoretical foundations of odorology as a branch of forensic technology. Its basic concepts are disclosed: the subject, methods, nature and properties of odor, classification of odor traces, the use of odorology achievements in criminal proceedings and forensics. Recommendations are given for work with objects of odorological origin at the scene of the incident and in the process of proof.
