The paper examines the most important and poorly studied in Russian historiography problems of the formation of an early feudal state in England, reveals the specific dynamics and socio-political content of this process: the prerequisites, the main stages of the formation of the Anglo-Saxon state, the specifics of the organization of power and governance in this state are revealed. On the material of epic literature, chronicles, legislative, documentary and other sources, the author shows how, as feudalization processes develop, the social base of the monarchy expands and strengthens, and also explores the social nature, structure, evolution of the serving nobility, its role and functions as a ruling class. A number of problems in the book are solved in a new way.
