The book examines the relations between England China from the moment of receiving the first information about each other to the present day: the British search for routes to China, the appearance of the first British ships off its coast, the creation of British trading posts in southern China, "opium" wars and unequal treaties, relations between both sides during the first and second world wars and after the formation of the PRC (until the 70s).
