February 3, 2004 at the Center for North American Studies of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a round table meeting was held on the topic "Periodicals as a historical source: America and Russia in the 18th-20th centuries." During the meeting, 15 scientists from the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, universities of St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Saransk, Kursk, Orel, Stavropol, Tambov and the Russian State University for the Humanities spoke. This collection publishes significantly revised and in some cases significantly expanded speeches of all participants in the round table.
