This book includes two novels by the famous Estonian writer V. Beekman. The novel "And a Hundred Deaths" tells about the first difficult weeks of the Great Patriotic War. It takes place partly in Estonia, partly in the Pskov region, where the Twenty-second Territorial Rifle Corps of the Red Army, created on the basis of the reorganized former Estonian army, took its first unequal battle with German troops. "Night Pilots" is an anti-militarist, anti-fascist novel exposing the modern philistinism of Western European countries.
