This book is dedicated to the memory of Dmitry Georgievich Sokolov (1921-2000), State Prize laureate, chief engineer of the Baltsudoproekt Central Design Bureau, chief designer of ship designs. Under the leadership of Dmitry Georgievich Sokolov, many projects of ships for various purposes, built at domestic construction plants, were completed. Among them are the unique spaceflight support ships Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, Marshal Nedelin, Marshal Krylov. Being the chief engineer of the Central Design Bureau, Dmitry Georgievich Sokolov largely contributed to the design and construction of ship measuring points: small first-generation instrumentation of the Morzhovets type (4 vessels, chief designer P.S. Vozny) and the Cosmonaut Vladislav Volkov type (4 vessels, chief designer B.P. Ardashev), as well as a new generation universal ship measuring point "Academician Nikolai Pilny yugin" (chief designer B.P. Ardashev).
