The book is the first monograph about the composer Nikolai Obukhov (1892-1954) - an interesting and to a certain extent "mysterious" figure of the Russian musical Diaspora. In the 1910s in Russia, his name Obukhov was inclined in the press in connection with the reform of notation, in the 20s his first concerts were held in Paris - the Prologue to the Book of Life was performed, which caused a lot of discussion, in the 30s demonstrations of Croix sonore - created by Obukhov electroacoustic instrument. A new wave of interest in Obukhov fell on the 1970s and 80s. The fascination with Scriabin experienced by the West at that time made the names of the "Scriabinists" relevant, among which Obukhov was one of the first. The study is entirely based on archive materials and contemporary testimonies.
