The book was written after the author visited memorial sites in Malta associated with the knightly Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Order of the Hospitallers). The main points of almost the entire history of the Order are considered, from its creation in the XI century until the occupation of Malta by Bonaparte's troops. Descriptions of structures built by Hospitallers in Malta are given, as well as museum expositions consisting of treasures accumulated by the Order, art objects and arsenals. Important information is presented about the essence of the relations of the Order with Russia during the time of Paul I, including the originals of the relevant documents of that time. Attached is the full list of Grand Masters of the Order until the early 1990s.
