The Institute of Russian Civilization publishes a two-volume collected works of the great Russian thinker, scientist, chief prosecutor of the Holy Synod Konstantin Petrovich Pobedonostsev (1827-1907). As the Christian thinker Pobedonostsev taught, science and philosophy contain only probabilistic assumptions that do not have absolute, unconditional and integral knowledge. Only the Orthodox faith, which the Russian people "smell with their souls," is capable of giving an integral truth. Pobedonostsev consistently defended the ideal of monarchical order, calling Western democracy "the great lie of our time." In his writings, he convincingly criticizes the basic foundations of Western statehood, seeing its main vices in pseudo-nationalism and parliamentarism, for they will "give birth to great confusion," clouding "Russian crazy heads."
