With the summer months comes the long-awaited swimming season - a happy time for adults and children. Sunny beaches, a splash of waves, a warm sea or a river running into the distance - all this gives rise to a feeling of vigor and health in us. But the swimming season brings not only joy - unfortunately, the irreparable happens. It was at this time that reports appeared on the pages of newspapers about the tragic death of people on the water... For nine years, almost unable to swim, I also drowned, but I was lucky: I was saved. Early in the morning, with a rocker and buckets, a girl went down the gardens to the river and, seeing bubbles on the surface of the water, where her head seemed to be looming, she rushed to pull the boy out right in her dress. The gratitude carried through the years to the unknown savior then resulted in the desire to do something useful to protect people from accidents on the water. Now there are many such cases in the country - thousands annually. Moreover, as statistics show, people drown during ordinary summer bathing, often even able to swim - there are 50-70 percent of them among the drowned. What happens to them in the water and why do they sometimes die more often than those who swim badly or do not swim at all?
