The book retrospectively recreates the life of the Russian language from modernity to antiquity, from the familiar to the forgotten. The author connects the development of the language with the history of peoples, paying considerable attention to Russian antiquity, the peculiarities of the life of Russians, primarily Muscovites, since it was on Moscow soil that the basic norms of Russian literary speech developed.
