"The Memory of Tiresias" is a new original book about cinema. It provides a detailed analysis of the associations that arise as a result of reading a film as a literary text. The author's concept is based on the concept of a textual anomaly, that is, such a place in the text where the meaning is darkened and thereby the mimeticism of reading is violated. However, it is in such cases that rich opportunities arise for semiotics and in particular for the theory of intertextuality, within which the author works. The analysis of quotes, hypercitates, displaced sources, anagrams, etc. comes to the fore, leading to some intertext that clarifies the presence of textual anomalies of the same type in various works and thus implicitly participates in the formation of meaning. This approach is especially important for clarifying the mysterious pictorial series of avant-garde films using a new complicated language. The book is based on extensive art history material from both cinema and other spheres of culture.
