Comprehensive preventive and therapeutic measures are considered in case of defects in teeth, dentition, abnormalities of occlusion, combined with functional disorders in the dentoalveolar region. The etiology of disorders, the frequency of dental caries, their early loss, as well as the congenital absence of tooth buds and their retention are reflected. Malfunctions in the maxillofacial region, the development of parafunctions and dentofacial anomalies in dental defects are presented in detail. Radiography methods used in orthodontics are described. For the first time, special attention is paid to the stages of permanent teeth formation, morphotopicometric studies of tooth buds, including third molars on both jaws, and their importance for planning orthodontic treatment of occlusion abnormalities and predicting its results. For the first time, the morphofunctional state of the temporomandibular joints with dental defects, dentitions and malocclusions is presented. For the first time, according to the study of telerentgenograms of the head performed in the lateral projection, the location of the temporomandibular joints in the sagittal and vertical directions with physiological occlusion, disto- and mesioocclusion, including due to congenital non-union of the upper lip, alveolar process and palate, is reflected. For the first time, a complex effect on the shape of the profile of the face of its congenital type, the main direction of growth of the facial part of the skull, the length of its anterior base, the location of the temporomandibular joints and the inclinations of the axes of the incisors are described. Size differences in pathology compared to physiological norm are presented. Modern methods of examination are proposed, the provision of comprehensive care is described - therapeutic measures for defects in the crowns of teeth, dentitions of various etiologies, taking into account the periods of bite formation.
