"Volokolamsk Highway" by Alexander Bek was first published during the Great Patriotic War, but the book has not yet lost its significance. The writer was able not only to give in his work a truthful display of the events in which he was a participant, but also to deeply comprehend their socio-political essence. The book describes difficult days on the eve of the first serious victory of Soviet troops near Moscow. A. Beck convincingly shows how and thanks to what parts of the Soviet Army became an insurmountable barrier for the enemy on the Volokolamsk highway.
