Viktor Sonkin - philologist, specialist in Western European and Slavic literature, journalist, translator-synchronist and teacher, one of the leaders of the Borisenko-Sonkin seminar (Moscow State University), whose participants prepared anthologies of the detective novel "Not only Holmes" and "Not the butler." This book arose at the junction of the author's two main hobbies - antiquity and travel.
