The publication combines two works by I.F. Stravinsky: "Chronicle of My Life" (1935) - a memoir narrative, a chronicle of the composer's creative and human fate and "Musical Poetics" (1939) - one of the outstanding examples of understanding music of the 20th century, comparable to similar works of Schoenberg, Hindemith and Messiaen. Poetics was first published in Russian, and a new translation of the Chronicle was also presented. Neither work has ever been published anywhere in a commented form (despite the fact that both are in dire need of comments), so this book should be the first scientific publication of Stravinsky's literary works.
