While working on The History of Atheism (2nd ed.), The author of this brochure came across the fact that in Russian there is no detailed story about the systematic attempt to re-educate an entire people during the French Revolution in the spirit of complete liberation from religious tradition. The main means of this re-education were the republican secular calendar and the "civil religion" based on it, or otherwise the "ten-day cult." Unable to provide factual material on this issue in his great work, but believing that acquaintance with this God-fighting epic for our anti-religious people is very valuable leading material and has not only historical, but partly and topical interest, the author tried to state in a coherent form that which with great difficulty can only partially be found in a number of books on the history of the French Revolution.
