Provides basic information on methods for reorganizing the genome of microorganisms in order to obtain strains for the microbiological industry. General mechanisms of regulation of microbial cell metabolism are considered. Modern genetic methods of working with industrial microorganisms and methods of genetic engineering are described. Examples of creation of strains of producers of primary metabolites and human interferons by modern methods are given.
