The book gives not only an articulation classification of the sounds of the Russian language, but also an acoustic one; supersegmental units (syllable, stress, intonation) are covered in detail. All material is presented in a phonological aspect. A number of chapters are devoted to new, developing branches of phonetics: sociology of pronunciation norms, phonetics of colloquial speech, phonetics of poetic texts. Particular attention is paid to orthoepia. At the end of the book are answers to tasks, subject and name indexes.
