Eli Aristide is an ancient Greek speaker, the largest representative of the Second Sophistry and Atticist, under whose name more than 50 works have survived to this day. Among them are the autobiographical Sacred Speeches, which reveal a deeply personal side of the author's life, and Praise to Rome, a high example of late Greek eloquence. Along with the works of Apuleius, Pausanias, Lucian and other ancient writers, the works of Eli Aristide are an important source of information about one of the most prosperous eras in the history of Rome - the "golden age" of the Antonins.
