The art of the nomads of Eurasia at the end of I - beginning of II millennium AD is being studied on the basis of an analysis of small-shaped toretics, mainly belt decorations of a warrior-horseman (bridle and belt headset made of non-ferrous metal). Their decor represents the early medieval Eurasian style of the so-called steppe ornamentalism. The essays reflected the materials of two large regions - southern Eastern Europe and Sayano-Altai. The decor of belt jewelry is analyzed against a wide background of Eurasian analogies, with which the author is familiar mainly from museum collections (more than 5 thousand samples), as well as from publications.
