Ireland, Dark Ages. In the holy city of Armag, the supreme druid Qatbad rules. Ingel the One-Eyed, the side son of King Conaire, ruler of the kingdom of Ergial, dreams of overthrowing his father and seizing power. The conspirators attack Ergial and ravage its capital, the sacred Tara. Fleeing the villains, Deidre, the daughter of Qatbad and concubine of King Conaire, leaves Tara and returns to Armag. Katbad vigilantly takes care of her daughter, because, according to the prophecy, it is she who is to produce a baby, who will later become king and unite the disparate island possessions. Only then will the tormented land of Ireland find peace and the time will come for its prosperity.
