Applied theory of gyroscope is presented. Physical essence, principle of operation and characteristics of gyro devices used in control, orientation and navigation systems are considered; free gyroscopes, sensors and indicators of roll, pitch, heading, angular accelerations and speeds; integrating gyroscopes, one-, two- and three-axis gyrostabilizers. The accuracy and performance characteristics of gyro devices under various modes of operation in real conditions are given.
