Philip Jose Farmer (1918-2009) - American science fiction writer, whose hallmark was shocking and commitment to adventurous science fiction plots. His "Lovers" were rejected by a number of major publishers, including the famous John W. Campbell, editor of "Amazing Science Fiction," but readers greeted the creation of the young author with delight, evidence of which is "Hugo" -1953, "the most promising new author." In subsequent years, Farmer strengthened his reputation as a rebel and dreamer. He published "sex fiction" novels in the porn publisher Essex House. He fell out with Kurt Vonnegut, making Kilgore Trout, Vonnegut's alter ego, the author of his work. He revived Phileas Fogg and Tarzan, giving the classic literary heroes a rough physicality and bestowing them with the abilities of real superheroes. He created a number of amazing cycles: "River World," "Tiered World," "World of Days," strange and attractive plots of which have fascinated readers for decades. "Lovers" and "Flesh" are early novels by F. H. Farmer, filled with social satire on gray Puritan America and incredible adventures of heroes trapped in their own sexuality.
