Early sixteenth century, middle Germany. Retired soldier Yaroslav Volkov returns home after nineteen years of continuous wars. He dreams of a quiet, peaceful life, but, passing through the possessions of one feudal lord, he receives an offer that he cannot refuse: he needs to restore order in the feudal lord. It is not easy to do this, it is painfully influential people are not interested in order. And not only people, as it turns out a little later. It has long been unclean in Rutta, and peasants disappear there much more often than in other possessions. But the soldier is a strong-willed and brave person, for the sake of the award he is ready to risk it.
