In 1978, the book of the American researcher of Palestinian origin Edward Said "Orientalism" was published, whose main thesis is that academic orientalism, in addition to its scientific function, served the interests of imperialism for a long time, bringing a solid theoretical base under the justification of expansionist policy, conducted by Western superpowers in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region and instilling fear of "strangers" in the inexperienced layman, which must turn out to be aggressive enemies of the established world order once and for all.
