The monograph is devoted to the study of the animal style - an artistic phenomenon characterizing the culture of Eurasian nomads of the 1st millennium BC - the beginning of the 1st millennium AD. The main object of research - the art of the tribes of the Lower Volga and Southern Urals in the Scythian era - is considered in comparison with a wide range of analogies originating from monuments from different territories of Eurasia and belonging to a large chronological range. Animal style images are analyzed in terms of both form and content.
