The monograph examines the process of ethnogenesis and ethnic history of Slavic peoples in the early feudal era on such important topics as the role of interethnic contacts in this process, the impact on it of changes in the social structure of Slavic society, the possibility of using written sources of non-Slavic origin in the study of ethnic processes, etc. The controversial issues of the oldest stage of ethnogenesis of the Slavs are investigated.
