scanning - UAHistoryk" Law of the people" - the oldest code of Slavic law. Compiled in the 8th - early 10th centuries, ordered, possibly, by the Bulgarian king Simeon (893-927). Saved in Russian lists in short and spacious editions. Today, about a hundred lists are known, the oldest - the end of the 13th century. It is believed that the "Law of the People" was used to draw up the Charter of Yaroslav the Wise and the "Russian Truth." In the oldest, short edition, "The Law of the People" contains a translation and Bulgarian revision of the Eclogi texts (excerpts from Corpus juris civilis and later constitutions made in Byzantium in Greek c. 740-750) and an exposition of penitential rules, probably of West Slavic (Moravian) origin.
